Elementary Rules (Grades 4-5)

All games will follow National Federation of High School (NFHS) Rules with the following exceptions:  

  

4th Grade House League

  1. Rim Height:  9'6"
  2. Free Throw Line:  14' Relaxed
  3. Ball Size: 28.5"
  4. Game Type:  5v5, Full Court Game
  5. Length of Quarters:  6 minute standard clock
  6. Time Outs:  3 full timeouts per game
  7. Defensive Restrictions:
    1. Man-Man Only
    2. No reach in steals when offensive player has possession or is dribbling except in the lane. Steals allowed in final minute.
    3. No Double Teaming except when dribbler is in the lane
    4. Full Court Press is never allowed
  8. Offensive Restrictions:
    1.   All inbounds are taken at top of key
    2.   Isolation Plays are prohibited.  Isolation plays are defined as a play where all offensive players except the ball handler are sent outside of the three point area during the play. First penalty will be a warning; subsequent penalties will result in a Team Technical Foul against the coach.
  9. Substitutions:  Substitutions are allowed at the quarter break and at a stoppage closest to the halfway mark of each quarter. Coaches are NOT allowed on the court; no “line ups” will be allowed for substitutions. Players check in at scorer’s table
  10. Overtime:  First OT period is 3:00 standard clock, followed by untimed sudden-death (first team to scores wins the game). No additional timeouts are granted – timeouts can be used if the team has any remaining.

    4. Full Court Press is allowed in the 4th Quarter and OT, as long as team is no more than 5 points ahead
