  1. Minimum Playing Time
    1. Each Developmental and House League team (grades 2-8) must play every team member at least fifty percent (50%) of the game in each game, not including overtimes. This includes all regular season games and SoLo tournament games.
    2. Each High School House Team (grades 9-12) must play every player a minimum of one quarter (25%) of the game each game, not including overtimes.  This includes all regular season games and SoLo tournament games
  2. Exceptions to the minimum playing time are as follows:
    1. Injury,
    2. Medical reason,
    3. Discipline,
    4. Excessive fouls:
      1. Two (2) fouls before the end of the first (1st) quarter
      2. Three (3) fouls before the end of the second (2nd) quarter
      3. Four (4) fouls before the end of the third (3rd) quarter
  3. Players arriving at games late or leaving early. The following guidelines will be followed for playing time should this occur: 
    1. Miss 1 Quarter: Minimum Playing time is reduced to 33% of the total game
    2. Miss 2 Quarters: Minimum Playing time is reduced to 25% of the total game
    3. Miss 3 Quarters: Minimum Playing time is reduced to 12% of the total game
  4. Maximum Playing time:  All house league divisions (grades 2-12) have a maximum playing time of 3 quarters, or 75% of the game.    
  5. Exceptions to the maximum playing time rule are as follows:
    1. Team has less than seven eligible players at the start of the game
    2. Team has less than eight eligible players AND one or more players have received Excessive fouls as described in (5)d above
  6. Notification requirements for Playing Time Exceptions
    1. For Injury or medical reasons exceptions:
      1. Coach must notify opposing coach prior to start of game (or during a timeout if the injury occurs during the game)
      2. Coach must notify the Division Coordinator in writing within 48 hours after the game
    2. For discipline exceptions
      1. Coach must notify Division Coordinator 48 hours prior to game and receive approval from Division Coordinator
      2. Coach must have the approval notice (e-mail) availble to show the opposing coach prior to the start of the game
      3. For excessive fouls exception, or maximum playing time exception
      4. Coach must notify opposing coach during a timeout or at halftime
      5. Coach must notify the Division Coordinator in writing within 48 hours after the game
  7. Enforcement of the Playing Time rules
    1. All teams are required to designate one parent or the assistant coach to keep track of playing time. The parent or assistant coach may not be working at the scorer’s table
    2. Team is required to keep track of the opposing team’s playing time
    3. Head Coach should collect the playing time sheet and turn into the Division Coordinator as part of the game report
  8. 9) Penalties for playing time violations
    1. 1st Offense – Warning issued to coach from the league
    2. 2nd Offense – Team forfeits game and coach is suspended 1 game
    3. 3rd Offense – Team forfeits game and coach is suspended for season

Travel Teams:

Due to the competitive environment in our travel program league games, Travel players must earn their playing time. No minimum or maximums are set for the travel teams. More information on playing times and the commitment for the travel and select program is found in the Travel section.
